Here’s a recap of some of our biggest AI updates from October, led by Gemini 4 Argon and Carbon, alongside our new world model Genie 4. Elsewhere in October, we introduced Genie 4 for real-time interactive world simulation with native audio, unveiled our smartest fitness tracker with Google Fitbit Edge, broke open a 20-year bottleneck in quantum computing, and more. !Image 2: Text with a blue gradient: "Explore our latest models" !Image 3: Text with red gradient: "Verify AI-generated content and stay safe from mobile scams"

Build privacy-first multimodal search with EmbeddingGemma 2. Engineered on the Gemma 4 architecture with 740 million parameters, our new open embedding model moves beyond text to map code, images, video, and audio into a single unified space right on everyday devices. Its modular design cuts local vector storage by up to 6x, making it easy for developers to build private, offline apps that can find a specific video clip from a voice memo or search hours of audio with a text query.
See how AI could improve patient-physician relationships in clinical care. In Google’s first publication in the main journal of The Lancet, researchers from Google and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center evaluated our AMIE conversational medical AI system during real-world primary care clinic visits. By gathering patient histories and generating clinical summaries before urgent care appointments, AMIE helped clinicians prepare in 75% of cases and matched doctors’ final differential diagnoses 90% of the time. This is part of our broader work applying AI to better understand, detect, and treat disease.
For more than 20 years, we’ve invested in machine learning and AI research, tools, and infrastructure to build products that make everyday life better for more people. Teams across Google are working on ways to unlock AI’s benefits in fields as wide-ranging as healthcare, crisis response, and education. To keep you posted on our progress, we're doing a regular roundup of Google's most recent AI news.
October underscored our commitment to AI innovation, as we released one frontier model globally and announced our next one just two weeks later. After rolling out Gemini 4 Argon — a frontier reasoning model — to developers, enterprises, scientists, and consumers, we announced Gemini 4 Carbon, our strongest model yet for long-horizon engineering and cybersecurity defense. Carbon illustrates the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier forward while strengthening our safety guardrails in tandem. Elsewhere in October, we introduced Genie 4 for real-time interactive world simulation with native audio, unveiled our smartest fitness tracker with Google Fitbit Edge, broke open a 20-year bottleneck in quantum computing, and more.
Put Gemini 4 Argon to work today, and see what’s next for Gemini 4 at the frontier. Following early safety testing, Gemini 4 Argon rolled out globally for complex coding, financial analysis, and legal workflows across Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, Google Cloud, Search, and the Gemini app, while also powering physical-world reasoning through Gemini 4 Argon for Robotics. Showing how quickly we’re pushing the frontier forward, two weeks later we announced Gemini 4 Carbon, our strongest model yet with state-of-the-art cybersecurity and long-horizon capabilities. Just as we did with Argon, we’re taking a deliberate approach to rollout: Carbon is now in pre-release testing with the U.S. government and a subset of trusted cyber defenders via the Fairwind Program as we refine safety guardrails and expand partner testing ahead of a broader launch to developers, businesses, and consumers.
